Re-define eternal life to include a different kind of life in this life
Help ordinary people rehear the Christian story: There is a better and more compelling question than “if you died tonight, do you know where you would go?” This is more life-gripping: “What if you knew you were going to live tomorrow, the next day and for a long, long time…who would you follow? Around what story would you organize the various parts of your life? What kind of person would you be? How would you determine those answers?
Re-position heaven in our story; heaven as destination—spiritual transformation as goal
Re-think and recover church in light of the Kingdom of God; demonstrate that the church scattered in real life, one’s everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—matters. Routine, predictable life counts too, not just church services or other religious activities.
Help people switch stories:
- From heaven as goal, to spirituality for the sake of others as the goal
- Righteousness as alignment to the Story of God, not mere mental assent to propositions
- Teach, coach, on transitions: what it feels like to really change
- From inaction to Vision-Intention-Means: a reliable pattern spiritual growth
